AGS Laboratories
Announces Oval Cut Grade Release
April 16, 2008. April 8, 2008. The American Gem Society Laboratories announced today that it will issue diamond grading reports with cut grades for oval cut diamonds effective immediately.
This is the industry’s first cut grade for the oval cut.
“We are pleased and proud to announce the roll-out of this popular cut,” says Frank Dallahan, President and CEO of the American Gem Society Laboratories. “The oval cut is very popular with consumers and the addition of a cut grade to the AGS Laboratories grading reports for oval diamonds will add more objective and useful information for consumers to make decisions.”
In 2005, AGS Laboratories released its Performance-Based Cut Grading System for both the round brilliant and the princess — the first-ever cut grading system for a fancy shaped diamond. Soon after, the Lab released a cut grade for the emerald shaped diamonds.
“The Lab continues its research into cut grade for fancy shapes, and more shapes are expected to come on-line soon.
The American Gem Society Laboratories provides diamond grading reports based on the highest standards of diamond grading and offers the only scientifically peer reviewed, objective and repeatable cut grade method in the industry.
