AGS Laboratories Adds Cut to its Diamond Quality® Report AGS Laboratories announced today that they will start offering the Diamond Quality® Report (DQR) with a Cut Grade. Previously, the Diamond Quality® Report included information on proportions, polish, and symmetry, but did not provide a grade for a diamond’s Cut. With the new Diamond Quality® Report, diamonds can receive up to an Excellent in Cut.“The new Diamond Quality® Report also includes word descriptors (Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, and Poor)” says Frank Dallahan, CEO and President of AGS Laboratories. “Our objective is to bring the DQR to the point where we can offer a full Cut Grade range with the potential for a Triple Excellent grade for diamonds that do not reach the AGS Ideal grade. This is an interim step we are taking at the beginning of the year as a prelude to other product positioning steps planned for introduction mid-year. “ Additionally, AGS Laboratories will continue to offer the pre-existing Diamond Quality® Report to assist clients who have existing marketing and sales programs in place revolving around that document. For clients with Ideal diamonds, AGS Laboratories recommends the Diamond Quality® Document. The document, which includes a flap on the side, allows clients to highlight a non-Ideal diamond that may have Ideal polish or symmetry, but overall does not warrant an Ideal Cut grade.
