AGS Laboratories Expands Laser Inscription Services

October 6, 2004

The AGS Laboratories announced today that it is expanding its laser inscription services by adding another laser inscription machine. The new equipment includes the Photoscribe LMS 2500, one of the most efficient and technically advanced laser inscription machines on the market.

The expansion comes in response to client demand and future growth requirements.

The PhotoScribe LMS 2500 is an upgrade of the LMS 2000, which is one of the most widely used laser inscription machines. The system is designed for high volume and heavy use. Diamonds are transparent to light to 220nm for type 2A diamonds. PhotoScribe's 193nm "Cold Laser Technology" brings the wavelength below this threshold, which guarantees that the laser will not penetrate the diamond and cause any internal damage. Therefore, the LMS 2500 can achieve a smaller spot size compared with other lasers, and in turn has the ability to inscribe very precise markings.

"AGS Laboratories prides itself on utilizing the most advanced technologies available in the industry," says Peter Yantzer, Executive Director of AGS Laboratories. "This extends from our grading research to all the services offered throughout the Lab."

AGS Laboratories has been offering laser inscription services since 2000.

"Our clients wanted a one-stop shop where they could send in their stones for grading and inscription," says Yantzer. "The initial service was such a success that we realized in order to help our clients maintain their goals, we needed to increase our capacity."

The AGS Laboratories Laser Inscription Service allows clients to inscribe, personalize and secure identification, using state-of-the-art technology, on anything from mounted stones to trademarks, logos, text, serial and personalized messages.
