AGS Labs to Present on Cut Grade Trends at Diamond Club West Coast Las Vegas, June 16, 2005: There is such a thing as a free lunch, at least when Peter Yantzer of AGS Laboratories gives a presentation on the new AGS Cut Grade at the Diamond Club West Coast, June 30 at noon. AGS Laboratories is hosting the luncheon on behalf of the Club. The presentation will give participants a better understanding of the new AGS Cut grading system, and explain how AGS Lab graders apply the cut grade to diamonds, as well as the particular role of certain elements assessed, such as proportion factors. “A thorough understanding of these parameters and the metrics that measure them, can help identify which cuts produce the best appearance, and can help increase sales of fine goods,” said Yantzer, who recently won the AGS 2005 Robert M. Shipley Award. The science supporting the new cut grade system reflects AGS’ transition from a proportion-based to a performance-based cut grade system, where all facets of a diamond are measured in three dimensions rather than two dimensions. The Lab will use state-of-the-art ray tracing software to trace light traveling through a diamond. The software demonstrates the quantity and quality of the light being returned to the viewer. AGS Laboratories will now consider brightness, dispersion, leakage, contrast, and weight ratio, in addition to proportion, symmetry, and polish, when assigning a final cut grade. “AGS Labs is the irrefutable leader in Cut grading as evidenced by this revolutionary system, and the release of the first-ever Cut grade for princess shapes,” says Yantzer. “The methodology used in the new system can be applied to all fancy shapes and arrangements.” Yantzer adds that his research team is working to add other fancy shapes to the system in the near future. The lunch will be held at the Diamond Club West Coast, which is located at 550 South Hill Street, Suite 1600. Los Angeles, CA. Call 213 623-1162 for information on the Club or the lunch.
