AGS Labs Opens Hong Kong Window

April 4, 2006. Las Vegas. AGS Laboratories continues its global expansion with the announcement that the Lab is launching a take-in window in Hong Kong. The window will be operated by the official Lab representative in greater China, The Eight Hearts Diamond Company Limited.

"It's been part of our strategic vision to expand into Asia and this is the first step toward the realization of that goal," says Peter Yantzer, Executive Director of AGS Laboratories."

The window is due to open later this month, in April 2006.

AGS Laboratories currently has take-in windows in Antwerp, Dubai, Israel, and India. A take-in window is an operation that acts as a collection point in a region, collecting diamonds and handling the necessary paperwork and documents for customs.

"AGS Labs has plans for other windows to further meet our national and international demand," Yantzer notes, and adds that further details will be forthcoming in the upcoming months.

AGS launched their Performance-based Cut Grading System in 2005, and since then, AGS Laboratories has been implementing the Cut Grade in their Diamond QualityTM Documents. In the new Cut-Grading System, all facets of a diamond are measured in three dimensions rather than two dimensions. The measurements are used by a computer program to trace light rays traveling through a diamond. The ray-tracing program shows the quantity and quality of the light being returned to the viewer. In addition to proportion, symmetry, and polish, AGS Laboratories will also consider brightness, dispersion, leakage, contrast and spread in assigning the final cut grade.
