AGS Laboratories Adopts WFDB Recommendations
March, 2004

LAS VEGAS - American Gem Society Laboratories announced it will immediately adopt the new High Pressure, High Temperature ( HP/HT ) diamond treatment guidelines recently recommended by the World Federation of Diamond Bourses ( WFDB ) Committee on Consumer Confidence.

Under these recommendations, AGS Laboratories will laser inscribe HP/HT on the girdle of the treated diamond. In addition, AGS Laboratories will note HP/HT treatment on its Diamond Documents and specify that the treatment has changed the color of the diamond.

"We've seen an increase in the number of HP/HT treated diamonds coming into the lab," said Peter Yantzer, Executive Director of American Gem Society Laboratories. "We believe that supporting an industry wide system will better protect the consumer."
