AGS Laboratories Announce Release of Fancy Shape Cut Grade March 10, 2005- Las Vegas, NV The AGS Laboratories announced today they would begin issuing the Diamond QualityTM Document for the new American Gem Society performance cut grade system on the square princess cut beginning May 1, 2005. This is the industry's first- ever, scientific cut grade for the princess cut. The science supporting the new cut grade system reflects AGS's transition from a proportion-based to a performance-based cut grade system, where all facets of a diamond are measured in three dimensions rather than two dimensions. The Lab will use state-of-the-art ray tracing software to trace light traveling through a diamond. The software demonstrates the quantity and quality of the light being returned to the viewer. AGS Laboratories will now consider brightness, dispersion, leakage, contrast, and weight ratio, in addition to proportion, symmetry, and polish, when assigning a final cut grade." "We're very excited about the roll out of the new AGS three dimensional system, as we will Īraise the bar' for the evaluation of a diamond," says Peter Yanzter, Executive Director of AGS Laboratories. "Furthermore, the methodology we are using can be applied to all fancy shapes and facet arrangement as research continues." With the release of the Princess Cut grade, the Lab will launch a new look for all their document packaging. "We've created a design that complements the new cut grade system," says Yantzer. The lab's website features a preview of the new packaging at www.agslab.com. As always, we are committed to maintaining a five-business day turnaround on grading results," says Yantzer. "No other Lab with our level of reputation offers results in five days." |
