AGS Laboratories Sets Sights on Asia

February 9, 2006. Las Vegas - The American Gem Society Laboratories, LLC announced today it will launch an ongoing seminar program targeting Asian retailers in order to meet the rising demand for AGS Laboratories products and services. The program, "The Power of Performance," will begin in May, provides an overview of the American Gem Society (AGS) and AGS Laboratories, the Lab's products and services, and will teach the fundamentals of the AGS new Cut Grading System. The May seminars will be free to attendees.

"Participants will learn how the AGS Laboratories products and services can strengthen their brand and ultimately help them sell more diamonds," said Peter Yantzer, AGS Laboratories Executive Director.

The first seminar will be in Taipei on May 8, followed by Hong Kong on May 10,and Shanghai on May 12. The Shanghai seminar will be presented at the Jewellery Shanghai 2006 trade show, and is the first educational series the fair has ever presented.

Registration information is posted on the AGS Laboratories website at agslab.com/asia. A second round of seminars will be held in November, with additional seminars scheduled for future dates.

AGS Laboratories made headline news in 2005 with the release of their newly enhanced documents using the AGS new Cut Grading System. The system is the first of its kind, where all facets of a diamond are measured in three dimensions rather than two dimensions. The measurements are used by a computer program to trace light rays traveling through a diamond. The ray-tracing program shows the quantity and quality of the light being returned to the viewer. In addition to proportion, symmetry, and polish, AGS Laboratories also considers brightness, dispersion, leakage, contrast and spread in assigning the final cut grade.
