| Laboratory Grown Diamonds |
In 2011, the AGS Laboratories began issuing grading reports for Laboratory Grown diamonds in 2011. The planned reports for Laboratory Grown diamonds are the AGS Platinum Diamond Quality Document® and the Gold Diamond Quality Report®. Each report will offer a format different from those issued for natural diamonds. For disclosure and identification, each Laboratory Grown diamond will be inscribed with the assigned AGS number and a statement that the stone is laboratory grown. The AGS Laboratories will issue Laboratory Grown grading reports for loose, colorless lab-grown diamonds that weigh 0.23 carats or more. The AGS Laboratories will not issue grading reports for simulants, mounted stones, or for those that have undergone treatments such as fracture filling or coating. A Laboratory Grown grading report may be issued for laser-drilled diamonds, but this treatment will be disclosed in the report. Pricing for Laboratory Grown diamond grading will be the same as for the AGS DQD and DQR series reports. |
